( EPUB The Miles ) Æ Robert Lennon – freewebdesing.com I travel to an independent bookstore in Chicago to pick up a season of gay fiction where gay fiction meansbooks with upstanding men that have notion that they are attracted to another man Is THIS such a rare issue that books cannot cover on a regular basis? Do I really have to visit old indi stores that have large gay book sectionsto find a book where the gay character is not diseased or killing everyone off as a mass murderer?

Either fabulous shopaholics or hedonists who go after the youngest man available to them There is an inexplicable scene in the novel where many of the book s characters watch video of one of their peers having sex with young men The reason for this is never xplained and besides being offensive it is pointless to the storyThere are numerous other Not Without a Fight examples I could cite but you get the idea I was disappointed to see these present in this textAs for the writing I am a little bit conflicted on this point For the first 60 pages or so the book is actually decently written Then it just gets awful Almost like someonelse wrote the last two thirds of the novel It descends into hackneyed and clich d scenarios and dialogue The story does moves along at a uick pace and the uick pace would be fine if it included character and plot development but it doesn tAs a runner I did not mind the parts of the text and there are many that focused on races the Garden Bouquets and Beyond emotions a runner deals with while training and racingtc However I can see a non runner not appreciating these aspects of the storyThere are little moments in the text that are nice and The Unseen Wonder even some that contain non clich d sentiments but they are too few and far between for this book to be worth any serious attention I decided to read this book based on the back cover blurb which talked about the camaraderie of running teams in New York City Being a part of this scene for decades I thought this book would be perfect for me But it seems I didn t read the blurb carefullynough because it turns out the book focused on just one running club A club for gays and lesbians And while there were some good moments about races I ran for the most part this was a novel about the gay lifestyle and all the drama that surrounds it And believe me in this novel there were lots of drama ueens and conseuently drama that I could handle The friendships loves and. H it are new to him Still after years of stagnancy working for the same magazine living in the same apartment and jumping from one short term boyfriend to another he's ready to tryAt the club Liam meets athletes of very stripe Some are fiercely competitive others interested in the after race bagels or team nights out partying The revelations on the.

As a Front Runner I really wanted to like this book It has a good premise However it could have used another good diting in most sections The dialogue feels too stiff and forced No one uses I am going to as much as these characters it s usually and conversationally I m going to Zu schnell especially when you use contractions in other sections The beginning andnding sections of the book read the most smoothly and seemed to be where the focus of the Sleepless (Bird of Stone, editing had been while the middle section felt like it had been largely ignoredAnd if you still want to read it be prepared for virtually pornographic sex scenes I had told some friends about the book before getting to the first section and then was hoping that none of them had gone out and downloaded it while I was at my second job before I could warn them about it Ther This reads like a first work with a very wobbly start Lennon was poorly served by hisditor The plot is okay and because I m gay and interested in gay romance themes it held my interest if I were not gay it might be too narrow a focus The background subject is very infra dig and probably roman a clef a gay running club in NYC Having briefly been a member of this club alot is familiar and rings true Waffling between a 4 and 45 on this one but nded up giving it a 45 in the nd review to come The Miles is a book I wanted to like But it was not to be I saw it on a table at a bookstore and picked it up As a runner myself the premise intrigued me Unfortunately this text lives up to very stereotype out there about gay men This is made distressing by the fact that the author is a gay man and one would hope he of all people would not ngage in stereotypes of himself and his peersStereotypes that I found particularly irritating included the idea that gay men cry Invisible (The Curse of Avalon every time one of their friends make a clich d trite statement such as look how far we have cometc that gay men are. A suadron of spectators screamed and hooted and Liam could feel his legs lighten It was possible He could run at any speed now; he would accelerate and accelerate and accelerateWhen Liam Walker joins a running club in New York City it's with some trepidation Liam has always loved running but the world of team racing and the camaraderie that goes wit.

Problems revolving around a gay running club in NYC is a light read which doesn t succumb to the obvious Reading this at the same time as Love Christopher Street this novelization was vivid in comparing it to the real memoirs of that work As a non runner I found the insights into that world interesting but also a little much so distracting from the human interactions Liam really comes into himself through his participation with the Fast Trackers running club His interaction with Didier which develops through the novel never becomes the intense romance that I Yummy Supper expected It is disappointing to see that this relationship seems to be unfulfilled at thend of the novel It would be nice to see where that relationship would go in the future I travel to an independent bookstore in Chicago to pick up a season of gay fiction where gay fiction meansbooks with upstanding men that have notion that they are attracted to another man Is THIS such a rare issue that books cannot cover on a regular basis Do I really have to visit old indi stores that have large gay book sectionsto find a book where the gay character is not diseased or killing veryone off as a mass murderer THE MILES took me back to the times when I lived in a neighborhood which catered to the gay community And I asily returned to that community feeling when all I did was crack open the pages Robert Lennon s book THE MILES and my life was back to normal Great book I need to figure out how many other novels Mr Lennon has written This book caught my Deep Listening eye as I was browsing through a local bookstore This isxactly the type of book I ve been looking for for years While it may not be a classic it s a book that speaks pretty solidly to my life and I found the xperience of reading it to be amazing Interesting The gay part of the story is a bit hackneyed and not ntirely believable However the running segments are right on the mark. Track hardly compare to what happens off it the romance and heartaches rivalries and injuries And as the year unfurls leading to the ultimate challenge the New York City Marathon Liam starts to realize all the ways in which life is measured by hills and valleys in how far you're willing to push yourself and in who's waiting for you at the finish li.
