Coming out and er relationships with Samuel and Adam Usually she will also explain Zee and the Grey Lords and Stefen and the seethe I think this is generally forgivable to many readers as the familiarity echos the storytelling tradition and the ritual of description but again distance makes the Cheri Red heart grow fonderBut those are mostly academic issues What I ve found less personally enjoyable and perhaps even less forgivable are the roles womenave in the series Which is very little Mercy operates in a man s world both figuratively and literally Mercy Discovering Your Heart With The Flag Page herself demonstrates no particular direct agency all of the plots start wither reacting to an event that Kingdom of Ashes (Nightfall, happens toer genuine unsuspecting little self The reader is uickly introduced to the idea that women associated with werewolf packs Websters Ii Dictionary, Third Edition, Office Edition hate Mercy and that becomes an ongoing theme through the series Evenuman women dislike Mercy as Gabriel s mom Sylvia does The exception to agency is Blood Bound where the evil and conniving Marsilia engineers an elaborate trap although clearly she still Aladdin hates Mercy I realized that even side characters are almost universally male with the exception of a couple of inscrutable fae The only exceptions being Mercy s mom who is never than a whirlwind in and out of the scene and Adam s daughter Jesse I found it disappointing particularly from a female author with girls ofer own Silver Bourne was the gestalt for me Daddy Must Die highlighting all the redundancies It comes as no surprise then that a book lent to Mercy by a bookstore owner male mayave other properties and that the werewolves in the pack are still trying to break Adam and Mercy up Samuel is sick at The Message Glorious heart and onlyis wolf saves O Cérebro de Broca him and now Mercy must saveis wolf Mercy s Damia's Children: Rowan 3 (The Tower Hive Sequence) by Anne McCaffrey (1994-02-03) home is targeted Someone is kidnapped and Mercy must save them and Adam endures several challenges Samuel s depression plot was solved very easily and tritely by L U V which I thought disappointing after the complicated emotional fallout of the rape back in Iron Kissed It was the last book of the series I bought back in the day when I was silly enough to still auto buy authors Three and aalf redundancies rounding down because that s what I did last time I flew through this in 3 days Love Adam sigh Same old same old I love Mercy but these books are starting to show a clear pattern I wish PB would shake up Breaking The Curse (Sexy Reversed Fairy Tales her plotlines a little with something or someone fresh I can t deny that I read this book in one sitting and that the narrative was absorbing Briggs is a good writer But by the next morning all I could think of were complaints I suspect I ll be in the minority in disliking this thoughThere s no Stephan at all Maybe the author thinks everybody is sick of vampires I m not I m sick of the damned Fae Their presenceas ruined this series for me They re too otherworldy and overly magical for the kind of urban fantasy I enjoy I ve always liked Zee pretty well but I disliked extremely the whole long seuence with the Fae towards the end of this book The previous book revolved around the Fae also but at least it A Banquet of Consequences (Inspector Lynley, had a better overall plot than this oneI don t like that Briggsas made ROMANTIC TAKEOVER her werewolvesave split personalities I can see that a werewolf would think of imself as aving a different identify when Keeper of the Light he transforms but to give the inner wolf an actual separate personality is taking that too far And while I usually like pack dynamics they were fairly patheticereFinally I didn t like the pat resolution to the Samuel problem I felt unsatisfied and disappointed at the end of this book and I won t be jumping to buy the next one as soon as it releases February 2018 Reread Buddy read with Sarah and EricaFebruary 2017 Re readJanuary 2016 Re read Buddy read with SarahThis is probably one of my favorite books in th. T about anything to keep it out of the wrong Shattered Spear (The Lost Stars, hands And if that doesn't take enough of Mercy's attentioner friend Samuel is struggling with The Homing his wolf side leaving Mercy to cover forim lest The Women of Easter his own father declare Samuel's life forfeitAll in all Mercyas Why Are You So Scared? had better days And if she isn't careful she may notave ma.

Patricia Briggs does not disappoint us in Silver Borne the 5th book in The Power of One her fabulous Mercy Thompson Series We continue following Mercy s life and the world that she lives introuble always followser as she throws The Wolf Gift (The Wolf Gift Chronicles, herself into saving orelping He Who Dares her friends This story goes deeper into the secretive and dark and dangerous fae world Mercyas something that the fae want back a book she The Thing About December had borrowed from a fae friend who is in danger because of that She findserself being contacted by the Fae ueen demanding the return of their valuable book In between trying to find Os Peixes Também Sabem Cantar her fae friend she another problem thrown ater by Adam s wolf pack who are most unhappy about t her Adam makinger part of is pact without their consent But Adam is not backing down He s committed to Mercy and no matter what is pack thinks says or do She s is mate and that will never change I love the chemistry between Adam and Mercy Their connection is unbreakable and I like seeing their relationship grow instead of Stand Up and Fight having that insta love thing The world building and the characters are so well developed that makes it so real and believableI just love this seriesMy favorite uote 35 stars This was a decent book as part of the ongoing Mercy Thompson urban fantasy series and worth reading for those who are already into this series but not one of my favorites in this series It combines two or three plotlinesFirst weave Mercy s ongoing issues with er failure to be fully accepted by er mate Adam s werewolf pack which become Adam s issues This leads to some insurrection in the ranks and a series of mixed martial arts fights for position and rank in the pack including that of the Alpha The disclosure of the conspiracy and the martial arts fights were interesting reading Briggs said she worked with er usband to write the fight scenes in as authentic a way as possible and it shows Unfortunately this continuing plot about the pack s issues with Mercy Londons Glory (Bryant May, has passed its Sell By date for my money We re kind of treading waterere nowSecond there s the Silver Borne artifact plot A special book was loaned to Mercy by a bookstore owner in a previous book and when she tries to return it the bookstore is closed the owner is missing and Mercy is worried about Jingle Bells him This ties into the third plotline a personal crisis that Mercy s old friend Samuel isaving He s at the end of is rope emotionally and is wolf Sam the werewolf Troys half ofis personality takes over their body to prevent a crisis but that s only a temporary solution So Mercy Knights Templar in Britain has three problems all of which areitting the boiling pointMy favorite part of the book was the SamSamuel part the werewolf politicking and fighting would Reign of Fury (Battles in the Dark, have been fun if it were fresh The Silver Borne artifact part of the plot wasn t at all memorable I really enjoyed this book My passion for this sub genreas been waning because there Nature Cure has been SO much of it out there but Mercy is one of the originals and a really gooderoine working class compassionate and never perfect I think I actually enjoyed this installment in the series better than the last the characters were really fleshed out the mystery was well plotted Nothing HUGE The Bookshop on the Corner happens but being comfortable with the world and the other characters is nothing to sniff at Enjoyable and all in all still one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series Re read for the 3rd time April 14th 2020 view spoilerNot a fan of Mary Jo even though she did a lot to make up forer actions The Fixer (The Fixer, her attitude towards Mercy doesn t really changeide spoiler I follow several supernaturalparanormal series but this one is easily one of my favorites Brigg s does a fabulous fabulous job of being consistent with One of Your Own her characters whileelping them to grow and change I am ceaselessly impressed with ow she juggles Mercy Thompson car mechanic and shapeshifter never knows what the day or night may bring in a world where witches vampires werewolves and shapeshifters live beside ordinary people Booklist But she is about to learn that while some secrets are dangerous whose who seek them are just plain deadlyMercy is smart enough.
Ll er supernatural aspects So far she Super Gran (Super Gran, has kept everything on an even keel andas given us the information we needed without doing a chapter of info dump or disrupting the action And the way she writes relationships is fantastic not just the romance between Mercy and Adam but Mercy s other relationships as well So many Jay McGraws Life Strategies for Dealing with Bullies heroines are solitary relying primarily on theero to form who they are but Mercy is Legally Sane her own person She is complete without Adam and better withim She Shadowspell Academy has friends who care abouter and friends she cares about In other words like a real woman she Anna Del Contes Italian Kitchen has a l I don t recommend doing what Naomi and I did which is read through the Mercy Thompson books back to back It becomes reasonably clear that the reader is getting roughly the same story with different covers I ve spent a lot of time considering this the seriesas many ardent fans and I used to be among them I think it all depends on what one enjoys in a story and Dead Center how tolerant one is of repetition I d rate my tolerance somewhere in the middle but only until the tipping point occurs either through saturation or through pet peeve I think series like this are best enjoyed exactly as they occur published one at a time a year in between Then the repeated explanations and summaries don t irritate they only recall taking on the cadence of storytelling when the reader slips into the story world with the beginning long long ago and far far awayDespite a reliance on folklore and fairy tales the Mercy Thompson series is and remains a sanitized muted version of those grim worlds The slavering wolf can actually control themselves if they are old and really powerful The strange fae will probablyelp you if you amuse or respect them but even the bad ones won t trap you for years until your family Murder Moonflowers (The Herbalist has died off All youave to remember is no thanking There are scary vampires but there s also one that wears t shirts and watches movies and a sheep necklace can protect you None of the wolves go crazy despite freuent assertions that it can appen No one except bad guys are ripped apart Marsilia repents er actions The fae victims are let go The misguided Exploring Limits (Exploring Limits, humans are coached Almost everyone gets a chance to redeem themselves There s very little true evil No one even swears I note it because while it is one of the things I enjoy that sense of ultimate goodness andappy endings I also believe it explains part of the series popularity Unfortunately familiarity also enables recognition of faults and there are uite a few The overall series arc lacks a sense of coherency After reading through a number of the Briggs family posts its clear that the series expanded to accommodate popularity and not out of an internal sense of story progression The first was written Blood Bound came about because the first did well followed by a surprise contract to buy three books I d contrast this with another favorite Ilona Andrews who The Herbalist (The Herbalist had a clear arc for a seven book series and a sense of where it waseaded in both story and emotion The plotting to date in Mercy Possum has been roughly the same for each book someone is imprisoned With Mercy s special powers the group will save the day This is true in Moon Called Adam Blood Bound Stefen etc Iron Kissed Zee Bone Crossed Mercy and Silver Bourne spoilerMercy The emotional plotting is also startlingly similar Mercy willave trouble trusting Mina olen muinasjutuliselt rikas her affection for Adam After mistrustingim when she should not Attached (Coronado Series, havee will still support Boazs Wager (Montana Collection, Book 2) her and she will vow to trustim At the same time one of the powerful people she loves is willing to sacrificesuicide Binge reading also draws attention to a narrative containing a lot of telling without showing Mercy will Essential Case Studies in Public Health have asides in every book telling abouter istory the fae reservation werewolves the wolves. To realize that when it comes to the magical fae the less you know the better But you can't always get what you want When she attempts to return a powerful fae she previously borrowed in an act of desperation she finds the bookstore locked up and closed downIt seems the book contains secrets and the fae will do jus.
